Visa/Permits

Nepalese Visa

I applied for my Nepalese visa at London based embassy which looked like a small ticket office with a few chairs and a counter. You are expected to pay in cash, preferably in pound sterling. Yes, the fee shows 40$ but I was ordered to bring 35 pounds. The process was pretty much straightforward but time-consuming. One day you bring in a filled in application form with photo attached, pay a correct fee and come back on a scheduled day and time to collect your passport with a Nepalese visa in it. Done.

Nepal makes things easy for foreign travelers. Visas are available on arrival at the international airport in Kathmandu and at all land border crossings that are open to foreigners, as long as you have passport photos on hand (not necessary at Kathmandu airport) and can pay the visa fee in foreign currency (some crossings insist on payment in US dollars). Your passport must be valid for at least six months and you will need a whole free page for your visa.
